Covenant Health Selects Dolbey for Computer-Assisted Coding and ICD-10 Readiness

Cincinnati, OH, November 19, 2013 – Dolbey today announced that Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s leading provider of healthcare, has selected the Fusion CAC solution for each of their seven hospitals. Increased coder productivity and improved financial performance were driving factors in making this decision while preparing for the dramatic healthcare change to ICD-10.

Covenant’s physicians already document patient care using Dolbey’s dictation and transcription solutions. Fusion SpeechEMR®, 2012 Best in KLAS for speech recognition, is utilized in Radiology, Pathology and across the healthcare enterprise with the Electronic Health Record (EHR) software. Dolbey’s solutions have helped Covenant increase the quality of documentation while assisting in successful adoption of the EHR by physicians.

The Fusion CAC solution will pre-code medical charts using natural language processing (NLP) technology. Medical coding professionals who will review the NLP results experience increased productivity and quality using this new technique. Beyond advancements in the coding and billing departments, Covenant will leverage this technology to process patient documentation while patients are still receiving care. This helps improve the quality and effectiveness of patient care through identifying opportunities in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs and Core Measures quality initiatives.

“Here at Covenant Health, we have seen 100% productivity with Dolbey solutions in the past, and are looking forward to that same success with these systems also,” said Rhonda Crabtree, Organizational Efficiency Officer for Covenant. “ICD-10 is not just a new medical coding structure; it threatens resources and revenue if not properly planned for. Dolbey’s CAC solution helps us be prepared and pro-active.”

Kevin Connors, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Dolbey, states, “Covenant Health is advancing technology to its fullest with the Dolbey Fusion solutions. They are building a true end-to-end solution from physician facing speech recognition and ICD-10 guidance to improved patient care and billing outcomes.”
